Aaron Wazana’s Eagle Project

On October 13th, 2018, Troop 642 helped out with Aaron Wazana’s Eagle project at The Mountains Restoration and Trust at Wild Walnut Park. The park had suffered damage from the Calabasas wildfire in 2016.

The goal of the project was to clear damaged trees and other brush and plant new trees. The troop worked with a volunteer tree trimming crew who cut down the dead trees. Scouts then removed the logs and branches to an area where a donated wood chipper turned the branches into mulch.

The mulch from the wood chipper was recycled and used to plant the new trees.

The park ranger taught scouts how to create chicken wire baskets that the trees would be planted in which prevented ground hogs from eating the roots of the trees before they could grow.

Congratulations to Aaron Wazana for completing his Eagle Project!
